THE SOVEREIGN FUTURES PROJECT

A global political reckoning is here. It requires a return to deep study, rigorous practice, and a commitment to reclaiming our sovereignty in this lifetime.

Together, across borders, we have the individual and collective ability to reclaim our sovereignty, and to use it to enact the exact solutions our neighborhoods and local communities need — in this lifetime. Peoples across the globe know that we cannot rely on existing institutions to save us, and we want more than just to be saved from the crises of our day. We have every right and immense unlocked ability to invent, implement, govern, restore, and reclaim.

The Sovereign Futures Project aims to collect, study, and practice building and sustaining solutions to the intersecting and universal crises of climate, economic and gender injustice, and lack of fair governance.

Freeing yourself was one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self was another.

– Toni Morrison, Beloved

The Sovereign Futures Project is committed to:

  1. Reschooling ourselves where our educational institutions have left intentional gaps that erase histories, and that ensure we are kept unaware of the constant and oppressive injustices enacted upon us today. If we are kept unaware of the histories that haven’t been reckoned with, and of contemporary political wins for the people, we may never do anything about it.
  2. Reclaiming our right & ability to govern. We are just as, if not more, capable of leading our communities in making decisions and building solutions than those who currently lead our nations.
  3. Remaining connected across borders, continents, seas and mountains. We are united, we live on the same planet, we can help each other. Our struggles are one.
